What Size Filter System Do I Need?

First of all you need to know your pond volume as all filters are rated to the volume of water held in the pond. For help in working out your volume, just give us a call on 0844 209 6823.

All of our filters come complete with a reccomendation for a maximum pond size that we feel they can cope with. These are our own reccomendations using our own knowledge and experience.

What Size Pipe Work Should I Use?

Ideally you should always use the largest size pipe that the pump / filter will accept. This will give you the best flow rates and the optimum performance from both your pump and filter.

How Should I Best Set Up My Electrics?

With the Part P safety regulations coming into force in Jan 2005 any new electrical installation needs to be notified to the Building Control body before work commences unless:-

  • the proposed work is undertaken by an individual or company who are authorised to self-certify (i.e. a qualified electricain)
  • the proposed work is of a minor nature and is non-notifiable (i.e. does not require the provision of a new circuit)

Therefore the only legal way for you to install your own electrical supply is to use a system which complies with the Electrical Safety Standards. At present the only non-notifiable, safe and legal power system is made by Blagdon. This system is protected by an RCD, complies with outdoor weatherproof saftey standards, uses metal sheathed armoured cable, is CE-marked and connects into an existing power point.

What Size UVC Do I Need?

These are our own recommendations when used with an appropriate sized pump. If you are unsure on your pond volume we suggest to air on the side of caution and buy a unit bigger than you think you need as you can never have too much UV power in a filter system.
